Class Rules and Consequences
Proper classroom behavior is a must. It’s very important that students be safe, respect each other and the teacher at all times to maintain a healthy learning environment. I’ve set up a short list of common sense class rules that most students should find very familiar. In order to be fair to all students, I will make sure to stay consistent with consequences and when they apply.
In order to track behavior DMCS uses an online platform called "Kickboard". Kickboard allows teachers to record students' positive and negative behavior, as well as assign consequences. For instance, a student's first warning for not following a class rule will result in the loss of one Kickboard point. A second point will be lost for a second rule violation and so on... after the loss of three Kickboard points, the student loses a privilege(loss of recess or detention). After the fifth violation the student is sent to the office and parents are called.
Classroom Rules
1. Be Safe and Respectful at All Times
2. Follow Directions the First Time
3. Keep Hands, Feet and Objects to Yourself at All Times
4. Raise Your Hand Before Speaking or Leaving Your Seat
5. Respect All Materials and Property
6. Honor the Speaker
7. Sit in Your Assigned Seat Unless Otherwise Directed by Teacher
8. No Food or Drinks in the Classroom
9. No Cell Phones or Devises Unless Approved by the Teacher
10. Report Accidents to the Teacher Immediately
Consequences
1st Time = Warning
2nd Time = Think Chair
3nd Time = Loss of next recess or detention(includes extending to following day)
4th Time = Think Slip(student fills out think slip)
5th Time = Student is sent to office and parents are called.
